Pride is joy. Pride can also be grief, exhaustion, and resilience - especially this year.

For many LGBTQ+ people, Pride holds multiple truths at once. It can be a vibrant celebration of identity, community, and how far we’ve come. It can also be a time when stress, fear, uncertainty, and emotional fatigue feel especially close to the surface. Both can be true and both deserve to be acknowledged.

This year, many in our community are carrying a heavier emotional load. The current environment has created real pressures and challenges that impact not just our sense of safety, but our sense of well-being. It is okay to name that. It is okay to feel it. And it is okay to need support.

Mental health is not a luxury, it is essential.

Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It is an act of strength, self-respect, and courage. As we celebrate Pride, we also want to create space for honesty and care.

To every member of our LGBTQ+ community, and to every ally who stands with us: you do not have to carry everything alone.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, discouraged, or simply worn down, please know that reaching out is not a weakness, it is a powerful step toward healing.

Checking in with yourself can look different for everyone. It might mean:

  • Taking intentional breaks from the noise
  • Setting boundaries to protect your energy
  • Talking with someone you trust
  • Seeking professional support
  • Giving yourself permission to rest and recharge

There is no single “right” way to take care of your mental health — only the way that supports you.

If you need support, consider reaching out to:

  • A trusted friend, colleague, or family member
  • A licensed counselor or mental health professional
  • Your Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Internal well-being or benefits resources available to you

Mental Health Support Resources

If you need support, sometimes your greatest asset can be benefits provided by your employer, including:

  • Behavioral health and counseling benefits
  • Mental health resources available through your company benefits portal
  • Crisis support resources, where applicable

Pride is not only about celebration, but also about care.

It is about compassion. It is about showing up for one another in meaningful, human ways.

This month and every month, let’s continue to create space where people feel safe to be honest about how they’re doing and supported in taking care of themselves. Let’s lead with empathy, check in with intention, and remind one another that we are not alone.

Please take care of yourselves and each other. 🏳️‍🌈💜
