Pride began as a call for courage.

In June 1969, members of the LGBTQ+ community stood up at the Stonewall Inn against harassment, injustice, and fear. Their actions sparked a movement that would change lives for generations to come. They were not seeking recognition or celebration. They were standing up for dignity, safety, and the fundamental right to exist as themselves.

That history matters.

As we celebrate Pride in 2026, we are reminded that the progress we see today was made possible by people who chose bravery in the face of risk, uncertainty, and resistance. Their courage created space for others to live more openly, more safely, and more authentically. And while there are moments when it may feel like progress has stalled, or even moved backward, history reminds us that change is rarely linear. Setbacks can be discouraging, but they do not erase how far we have come. If anything, they call on us to stay grounded in our history, steadfast in our purpose, and hopeful about what can still be achieved. The challenges of today can help shape a stronger, more determined path forward for tomorrow.
Pride is a celebration, but it is also a responsibility.

It calls on us to remember those who came before us and to honor the many voices, stories, and experiences that shaped this movement. It calls on us to stand beside those who feel vulnerable, unseen, or unheard. And it calls on us to keep building workplaces and communities where everyone can feel safe, valued, and respected.

At LEAGUE, that means coming together with purpose. It means supporting one another, especially those who may not yet feel safe enough to fully share who they are. It means listening with empathy, leading with compassion, and making sure that no one feels alone. For those that can't or have the courage to be your true authentic selves at work, find community and support this time of year so that you are the best you possible. We'll be here when you are ready. It also means expressing appreciation to all the allies that are there by our sides cheering and supporting our community. Without their love, support and commitment to change, we would not be where we are at. To those individuals, I extend a special THANK YOU!

The promise of Pride has always been bigger than a moment. It is the belief that people deserve dignity. It is the conviction that everyone should have the freedom to be their authentic selves. And it is the shared responsibility to protect that progress and continue moving it forward.

So, this month, let us celebrate with joy, reflect with gratitude, and act with intention. Let us honor the legacy of those who paved the way by continuing to show up for one another now.

When we stand together, we do more than remember history - we help shape a better future.
