In February we celebrate Black History Month, an important time to celebrate the Black community and shine a light on the inspiring Black LGBTQ+ leaders leading the fight for a fairer and more representative country. Black queer women in particular have championed important social movements and broadened the scope of belonging to multiple underrepresented communities.

Despite encouraging recent successes, the need for the presence of more Black queer women in government roles everywhere is still a priority.  Read this inspiring article from LGBTQ Nation and show your support for these six incredible women in the Black LGBTQ+ community, rising and making their communities’ voices heard.

We would also like to highlight the work of our friends at The Trevor Project, who are giving focus to the needs of Black LGBTQ+ youth, providing resources to explore their specific issues and provide support here.
