November 1996AT&T CARES Community Service Volunteer Program
In November 1996, AT&T Foundation unveiled the new AT&T CARES Community Service Volunteer Program, which allows each AT&T employee to devote one paid workday to community service as part of the AT&T CARES effort.
Employees and retirees who register their volunteer hours will be given an opportunity to be randomly selected to recommend a special AT&T CARES grant for a nonprofit organization in the amount of $1,000. One winner will be chosen quarterly.
Why Is AT&T Doing This?
To exercise our corporate responsibility in the communities where our employees and customers live and work. To maintain our company ties to the local community. To enhance AT&T's profile in the local markets. To have some fun, by engaging in team-building opportunities.Who Is Eligilble to Volunteer?
All regular active full-time and part-time employees of AT&T are eligible. In addition, all retirees are encouraged to be a part of this community service program.What Types of Activities are Included in This Program?
Activities sponsored by nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations engaged in community service, including hospitals and museums, schools and libraries, environmental and animal welfare organizations, community, religious and social service agencies, as well as youth organizations, such as Little League, soccer associations, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.Note: This "document" announced the program in 1996.
