Posted June 27, 2000Atlanta Pride Weekend
For all of you that helped or came by the AT&T Wireless/LEAGUE Atlanta booth at the Pride Market, you know how busy we were! Here's the run down:
Yes, it was hot!
We took in $104 in donations ($1.00 each) on the raffle for the AT&T Wireless phone and Metro D.C. raffle. (The latter is Metro D.C.'s annual "trip" drawing!) The phone went to Patty Zopfi of Egan, Minn.
On the Wireless side, we sold six wireless phones and plans. And we got leads on possibly 13 to 17 more sales this coming week for phones or accessories!
On Sunday, lot's of tickets were filled out for the wine travel cooler -- drawing to be held on July 9 -- and a later drawing for the AT&T Wireless trip to Sydney to see the 2000 Summer Olympic Games.
We had 22 people sign up for information about GFN.com (Gay Financial Network).
On the trinkets side: we gave away five cases of Gay.com Frisbees and four cases of stadium cups. We also handed out 1-1/2 cases of Gay.com bags so people had something more manageable for all their "treasures."
We also gave away two cases of AT&T T-shirts, a case of ink pens, two cases of AT&T cold drink "cozies," a case of Nokia bottle openers, stress grips, pin flashlights and key chains!
We did a lot of awareness training with the Wireless folks and, to our knowledge, made our first Wireless sale to a transgendered person!
All in all, I feel we had a successful weekend and everyone seemed to really have FUN this year! The Pride Market was bigger this year and our competitors -- Sprint and Verizon -- were there as was EarthLink.
It's safe to say that all of us who were there are VERY tired!
The best part to end the weekend was getting the see the B-52s perform on the main stage and seeing a GIANT rainbow spread over Piedmont Park during a spectacular sunset. This was not lost on the crowd or the performers that had a moment of silence and blessing for a great weekend, followed by a ear splitting roar from the crowd!

The LEAGUE Atlanta and AT&T Wireless tent offered lots of goodies and chances to win. Besides the Metro DC raffle, you could "Register to WIN a free AT&T Wireless phone and support the LEAGUE Foundation."
Or as the poster on the left side of the photo of our tent said: "Enter Here. Get on the VIP list ..." What was that all about? You could support the U.S. Olympic team and win a VIP Trip -- to see the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney.
Our new posters to support the LEAGUE Foundation are on the right side of the tent in the photo. We made them to support this year's raffle. Here's what they said:
